Venus and War 1 by Ouranos The Dresden Codex, which is also known as the Codex Dresdensis, is a pre-Columbian Mayan book of the eleventh or twelfth century created by the Yucatan Maya. It is believed to be a copy of an original text produced between three and four hundred years earlier. The most outstanding evidence for this is the 11th- or 12th-century Dresden Codex. Opening accordion-style to extend 12 feet, its pages are tightly packed with Maya hieroglyphs recording accurate astronomical tables thought to be based on thousands of years of observational knowledge. "The Maya tracked Venus, which has an incredibly complex motion across the horizon, over generations so they could predict when it would appear in the sky because they considered it a dangerous omen that could herald war, illness or death," says Eric Heller, lecturer in anthropology at USC Dornsife and an expert on Maya cosmology and ideology. https://phys.org/news/2022-03-ancient-c ... osmos.html Many epithets are attached to Venus as per wikipedia One of them is Venus Victrix ("Venus the Victorious"), a Romanised aspect of the armed Aphrodite that Greeks had inherited from the East, where the goddess Ishtar "remained a goddess of war, and Venus could bring victory to a Sulla or a Caesar." Henri-Désiré Landru, the famous French serial killer had Sun/Moon/Venus/Neptune in Aries square Uranus in Cancer. Some would say 'What a romantic and original person he must have been'. A Venus Lucifer at New Moon personified as a male figure bearing a torch. Adding a Grand Trine between his Aries planets and Mars in Leo and Saturn in Sagittarius. Not only seductive but hard-working! The perfect candidate for marriage. When you include the Angles in his chart, it tells a different story. Blessings! Quote Wed Feb 15, 2023 12:02 pm
by james_m what i know about this - very little, lol... but i did pick this up many years ago.. the difference between a rising and setting venus, where venus rises before the sun in the morning as a morning star, verses the later where venus sets after the sun sets and is seen as an evening star.... obviously its connected to the sun-venus cycle.. https://cafeastrology.com/sun-venus-cyc ... ology.html my understanding is that venus as morning star, or rising before the sun is more war like, then venus setting... i don't know where i picked that up... in Henri-Désiré Landru chart it is a venus rising before sun - more war like... fwiw and all that jazz... perhaps someone else will chime in with more info on this particular cycle... one other important consideration.. it might make a difference if the chart is a nocturnal verses a diurnal chart too... i seem to have gotten these ideas via my reading the hellenistic astrology books... venus is said to work better in a night chart generally.. Henri-Désiré Landru was also a diurnal chart with venus as morning star.. Quote Thu Feb 16, 2023 1:13 am
by Ouranos my understanding is that venus as morning star, or rising before the sun is more war like, then venus setting... Indeed! Morning star is as if Venus is looking forward to the Sun, younger, prime, future-oriented. Evening star is a more wise Venus, older, looking behind her shoulder. Extending it to a square to Uranus for example in the chart of Landru. Morning star, you break the rules more easily. Freedom at all costs. Evening star, freedom is more difficult to articulate because you want to preserve your assets. And it is more disruptive. I think we minimize the importance of the Venus-warrior aspect because we learn that Venus is peaceful, compromising and easy-going. For anyone who has witnessed a woman giving birth, this is the most primal, instinctual and physical act in the world. An earthquake around would not shatter the intent of a woman in that moment. 4 by Sinbad Blessings to you too, sister, brother or bot I am not sure what your point is about Venus in your first post. Could you elucidate? Also, what are the practical implications in terms of astrological interpretation - my interest Quote Fri Mar 03, 2023 8:26 pm
by Ouranos Sinbad, Just to bring up the fact that the Mayans read the omens of war (most likely with other factors) in the motion of Venus. And in other cultures, there is a Venus warrior. We are led to believe that Venus is all about peace, harmony and love. But there is more to say about Venus as it seems. With the example of Landru, would you read a serial killer with Venus and Neptune tied to the Luminaries? My guess is that most astrologers would see the signature of an artist. Blessings! 6 by Yuriy First what crossed mind is that Hitler was Taurus with Libra ASC and Venus in Taurus conjunction Mars in 7th. Yet, his Venus was retrograde, something wrong with it... Libra rising: Hitler, astrology and British intelligence, 1940–43 Footnote1 https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10. ... e%20of,256. Also Venus associates with 7th house indicating open enemies too, not only partners. Quote Sat Mar 04, 2023 12:24 pm
by james_m since it is being used as an example so much, here is Henri-Désiré Landru's chart in sidereal.... venus is in pisces too which is supposed to be very positive... clearly there is something delusional about it here! https://www.astro.com/astro-databank/La ... 9sir%C3%A9 my own take on this chart is venus has very little to do with the thrust of the chart... for that i would look at the weak mars which rules over sun, moon and ascendant... yes, there is an exchange between moon and mars, but i think it is a perfect example of how mutual reception doesn't make anything better when the planets are in a difficult sign... the mars -rahu square onto the ascendant is a difficult set up as i see it... sun and moon in the early degrees of aries... the 2 malefics in the western hemisphere connected to the 4 and 8th houses - a lot of challenging and potentially negative dynamics to work thru... the same mars rules saturn too.... the pretty venus-neptune conjunction in pisces has very little to do with this chart, other then in some deranged active imagination context! i go back to venus rising is more of a warrior then not - sort of going with the mayan and ouranos take on this here basically... hitlers chart is a different matter.. My guess is that most astrologers would see the signature of an artist. Yes, but only if they do not consider the condition of Venus. If I look at Landru’s chart (tropical zodiac) I see Venus first of all in her detriment and combust. Being not only Lady of the 1st house but also coruler of the 6th she is attacked both by Mars and Saturn. Mars is peregrin and determines all the stellium of Sun, Moon, Mercury Venus and Jupiter (and Neptune) in Aries. And he doesn’t like Saturn (he is in Saturns detriment), who is also peregrin. Two bad-tempered malefics affect Venus. She is situated essentually bad as well as accidentially weak in the 12th house. Jupiter, Lord of Death, is another peregrin planet and combusted too. He cannot help. So this Venus is really not good at all. Quote Sat Mar 04, 2023 4:45 pm
by Michael Sternbach I always found it interesting that, to the Mayans, Venus was a war goddess. And I used to know three people with Sun in Libra who were prone to violent outbursts, even though they could also be very friendly and forthcoming, the way Libra is generally described. That hidden side of theirs came to the fore especially when they were drunk (which was quite often the case with two of them). So perhaps there is indeed a shadow side to Venus that has to do with Mars as her oppositely polar principle. We should always consider opposite polarities in astrology, the forces it studies don't exist in isolation. Neglecting this fact, we won't be seeing the bigger picture, and our readings will surely be lacking in some important respects. _________________ Visit my blog: https://michaelsternbach.wordpress.com/ Quote Sat Mar 04, 2023 6:19 pm
by Michael Sternbach Brigitte Bardot is a quadruple Libra and (arguably) an incarnation of Venus herself. And yet, in this video you see her slapping guys and even physically attacking another woman (around the 8:20 mark). https://youtu.be/FRhYSrSQGtw Hope you enjoy! _________________ Visit my blog: https://michaelsternbach.wordpress.com/ Quote Sun Mar 05, 2023 1:01 am

by Ouranos If we consider Venus with the polarity of Mars, they both belong to the Night Sect. Danièle Jay in her book 'Pour une astrologie de l'événement' (p.183-186) analyzes what Ptolemy says of marriage in Tetrabiblos,IV,5 and she says he puts the emphasis more on the Sun and Moon. But for sexual pleasure, it goes with Venus and Mars. The visibility of Venus or Mars seems to be an important factor in our choice of a lover. If Mars is under the rays and aspecting Venus, we tend to choose lovers of inferior ranks or with foreigners. If Venus is under the rays, it favors relationships with lovers of higher ranks or with bosses. A masculine Venus is more active, a feminine Venus more passive. An Angular Venus is more open to the world, Succedent more static and the importance put on the value and self-confidence you have of yourself, Cadent, you feel disconnected with the values of the world around you and you tend to create relationships with the outcast, stranger and alternate people. When we look at Landru, a Venus under the rays, Out of Sect, Masculine, Cadent we get the sense that he saw women superior to himself and unable to create a relationship based on equality. Blessings!
