The Orionid meteor shower should rain down its greatest number of meteors on the mornings of October 21 and 22. The morning of October 22 might bring the richest display of meteors.

The shower's radiant is in the east at Orion's dim club, between Betelgeuse and the feet of Gemini.

At this time of year, when highly visible meteor showers, largely composed of space rocks rich in iron (Mars), traditionally streak across the night sky, Steiner’s clairvoyant vision saw the traditional flashing iron sword of Michael.

The meteoric sword of Michael was thought to cleanse the Earth’s atmosphere of summer's sulfurous influences, allowing the Higher Self to emerge and guide the initiate along the path of Spirit toward the birth of the Inner Christ Light, an event which takes place in December, at the winter solstice just before the festival of Christmas.
