Hi there - I was looking at the upcoming Aries ingress over the weekend. My eye was drawn to the Mars rising line through Helsinki. Ordinarily the ingress positions for Helsinki might not attract attention, except for Finnish astrologers. However, in light of the current state of the world this Mars position seems extremely thought-provoking.

The chart follows:

20 March 2025, 11:02AM, Helsinki, Porphyry Houses




In zodiacal terms Mars is right on the ascendant. Taking its celestial latitude into account, Mars has actually just risen, being about 3 degrees above the horizon. This is a prominent placement of Mars in fall by any account. Although Pluto is some way of the descendant degree setting in the 7th house, again, taking celestial latitude into account, it is just 3 degrees above the horizon. So as Mars rises over the eastern horizon, Pluto approaches the western horizon.

Nick Campion lists one chart for Finland in BWH (#104).

6 December 1917, 15:00, Helsinki.

The charts below are the Aries ingress in the centre and the Finnish chart on the outside. Pluto's entry into Aquarius has coincided with its transit of Finland's Venus. Aries ingress Jupiter is triggering (by opposition) a close square between the Finnish Mars and Moon conjunction and the national Sun. This looks significant to me, particularly given the angular Mars and Pluto in the ingress chart.




However there is a much bigger picture here. An astrogeography map shows the Mars rising line running, broadly speaking, down Russia's border with Eastern and Central Europe. The following chart is the Aries ingress set for Tbilisi in Georgia. Note the proximity of Mars rising in this location too. Although the longitudinal alignments for Mars and Pluto are not quite as precise, Mars is actually exactly on the horizon (taking latitude into account) in Tbilisi.




I will open a second post, due to the limitations on the number of images per post, below to look at some other locations. My conclusion is that the geopolitical tensions in this part of the world are going to be a major theme for this Aries ingress year. In effect, Mars rising in the Aries ingress chart is impacting on this area of the world in particular, from Tbilisi in the south to Helsinki in the north. Obviously the Mars line extends beyond each of these cities north and south, but the connection between these two centres jumped out at me in particular.

Here is a basic astrogeography map from Planetdance showing the Mars rising line and the approximate locations of Helsinki, Tbilisi and Kharkiv.


The Mars rising line falls more or less along the Russian border with the Baltic and Central European states.

The final chart is the Aries ingress set for Kharkiv in Eastern Ukraine. The Mars position, again accounting for celestial latitude, is precisely on the horizon in this location.




Deb has already noted the significance of the Jupiter rising line through London at the Aries ingress.

Thanks James - helpful insights. If I have time later today I will look at the points beyond Tbilisi to the south. This all looks quite fraught to me unfortunately.

For noting - the Mars-IC line goes through Reykjavik, Iceland and the Mars setting line and Pluto rising line is not far from Nuuk, Greenland.

Mars sets across North America but doesn't fall near Washington, DC. The Pluto rise line is closer to the east coast. If the zodiacal degree is taken as the measurement for placement, Pluto is just about 5-6 degrees above the ascendant. However, if celestial latitude is taken into account, Pluto seems to be exactly on the horizon in DC. I'll look at this a bit more closely later.

Hi there - I've managed to get on to edit another post. I tried earlier in the day but got thrown off the forum again by this SQL problem. Here is the chart for Washington, DC.




Although Pluto looks to have passed the ascendant, it is actually on the horizon in DC. Its altitude is just +10 minutes of arc. What is happening in Washington, DC, is clearly all about power and might. If I'm honest, the situation in the States now just seems brutal. I don't buy the line that "it's just four years". We don't know that for sure yet, and even if it is, undoing what is being done is going to take decades. From where I'm standing it looks as if the rule of law has no meaning any more and this is extremely dangerous in my opinion. The POTheUS and co. are testing the very limits of civil society.

Here is the local horizon horoscope. You can immediately see Pluto on the horizon for Washington DC.




I'm not going to push my luck for now with the forum problems, but there is much more to say about this imminent ingress.

At the time of the ingress, Mars is exactly conjunct the fix star Castor (the mortal twin). His nature is said to be like Mercury (Ptolemy).

Thanks James - that chart looks right. Lots of contacts with Tr-u-mp's chart which I won't go into here. I think I've noted elsewhere that last year's DC Aries ingress had his chart written all over it. Venus and Mercury are under the hammer - disappearing rapidly into the Sun. They are both combust at the moment, and Venus in detriment looks very uncomfortable. I note that Venus rules the Porphyry 9th house - the judiciary and law - and the IC - the foundations of society. It is no accident surely that the WH mob are going after judges. Are they going to abolish the Supreme Court I wonder? despite the right-leaning persuasions of the incumbents.

Jupiter, ruling the Moon and the 11th Porphyry house and the 2nd Porphyry house, is also in poor shape being in detriment in Gemini. Jupiter is a natural significator for judges and the law in general. If the people are looking to use the law for protection they are going to be disappointed. The 11th rules the institutions of the state and government. To m it looks like all the foundations (4th house) are being pulled away.

The moon is quite close to Antares. It will cross the zodiacal degree of Antares a few hours after the ingress. I wonder if this when people might begin to realise the predicament they are in in the USA. I know some citizens will be 'over the Moon' about the displays of power and authority in DC, but more sober-minded folk might be becoming quite disturbed by events.

Here are the charts for Ottowa - Pluto is again close the ascendant. Looking at the local horizon chart shows that it is yet to rise, being a degree or two below the horizon.






Essentially Ottowa lies along the line of Pluto rising, certainly with orbs of the horizon. It looks like Canada has to find ways to meet the PoftheUS demonstrations of 'power' if at all possible.

This is a fascinating and powerful ingress in my view. If we turn our attention back to the Middle East, the Mars rising line passes right through Oman and Dubai. I don't know much about this area of the world, but Oman seems to be a US ally. One wonders what role this country might play in the coming year with any Martial activities that occur around the Gulf and beyond.

Hi again - this is the local horizon horoscope set for Oman. It's a bit difficult to decipher, but it shows Mars just above the horizon in Muscat. This also shows Georgius' point about Mars being in the twin stars of Gemini, Castor and Pollux, both of which have just risen in Oman.

Here is the ingress chart for Moscow. The horizon alignments are not quite as precise for the Russian capital. Longitudinally Mars is about 4 degrees above the horizon and Pluto is about 8 degrees above the horizon. Nevertheless they could both be considered to be angular in this place. If celestial latitude is factored in both planets are about 3-4 degrees above the local horizon. Pluto is setting in Moscow and Mars is rising - this is the inverse of the situation in DC.

For interest, it appears Ukraine's President Zelenskyy is visiting Helsinki today, 19th March, for talks with his counterpart, President Stubb.

this is a general comment.. it seems europe under fuhrer von leyen really wants to build up the military industrial treasure chest in prep for war with russia, now that the usa is trying to turn around the titanic and head in an opposite direction from war on russia... it seems europe has been overly reliant on usa leadership, whether it be under the guise of nato, or in other more covert ways... now with a rudderless europe floundering without the leadership of usa, various unpopular leaders in europe are wanting to take command of the ship! all this war and prep for war is certainly captured with the close mars ascendant links in some of these charts... fortunately the rising sign is cardinal and so it is only supposed to last for the first 3 months or the spring season...

can any of these poodles for the military industrial complex get a war going in such a short amount of time?? i kind of doubt it... but they can definitely make a strong dent in the financial situation in europe more broadly... as the saying goes war = money... it is poignant to see the general populace desire for peace and basic needs/welfare put on the back burner by these treacherous politicians, while the military aspirations are pushed into the foreground.. i hope europe comes to it's senses and continues to voice it's views on all this by electing leaders who have a different vision for the future here.... thanks for your posts ed! james
