Re: Will R. win the boxing match?

I'm by no means an expert on house cusp orbs, I simply follow what works, but Lilly followed Ptolemy, and Ptolemy said the following in Tetrabiblos:
... these several places are the sign on the angle of the ascendant, from the fifth degree above the horizon, to the twenty-fifth degree below it...
This orb was explained using natal chart life predictions but it is generally universal, from what I have seen other horary users define. This would mean a planet is in the 1st house if it is 5 degrees above the ascendant to the 25th degree from the degree of the ascendant (5 degrees from the 2nd would be in the 2nd). House types will vary for the 25th degree though (most of us use Regio for horary), so we all just tend to look at the degree of the cusp of the next house and subtract 5 degrees from that (2nd house, etc.).

Would Ptolemy or Lilly let a 9 arc sec degree slide is the question? I translate the rule as a hard 5 degrees (I would call Jupiter 6 degrees from the ascendant) but I know some astrologers can let the chart "speak."

Anthony Louis, the horary astrologer, explains it in more detail in his blog here:
https://tonylouis.wordpress.com/2017/12 ... ake-sense/

Louis argues that Ptolemy used equal houses, and that for planetary orbs a 3 degree orb might make more sense. He says the following regarding the ascendant:
It makes theoretical sense to apply the 5-degree rule in quadrant houses where the cusp of the 1st house is the Ascendant, but it does not make sense to apply this rule to intermediate houses of variable length.

All this being said, I don't think Jupiter even in the 12th is an indicator of the querent being stronger. Besides being in fall, detriment and peregrine, and retro, Mercury very close to an angular Greater Malefic with the NN. Venus can't be much help here. She is not able to overcome Saturn even on a good day. Speaking of Bonatti, here is what he says about the ascendant lord with NN:
The 61st is to Behold, Whether the Lord of the Ascendant or Moon, be with the Dragon's Head or Tail; for that is an impediment in all affairs, and the hindrance or mischief wilt proceed from a cause simplified by that House the Dragon's Head or Tail hurts, unless it be corporal for they have no Aspect or Opposition. And it is worse when the Significator or Moon goes towards them, than when they go from them; for in the first case is signified the mischief in its full height, like a man in a ship that is split in the sea, when there is no hope. But in the last, 'tis like a ship that is only in danger, but has hopes and probabilities of escaping. And note that when the significator or Moon goes to the Dragon's Head, its malice is augmented, for its nature is to increase, and when they go to the Tail, the mischief is not absolutely at the worst, as 'tis when they go from it, that is, within one degree; for from one degree forwards 'tis not so great as in that degree, although much; and from 1 degree to 3 degrees less, and from 4 degrees to 5 degrees yet less, and from 5 degrees to 7 degrees very small; from 7 degrees to 9 degrees smaller, and from thence to 12 degrees little or nothing at all.
If we assume the question was asked by the boxer, the querent is not looking so great. The Sun also trines the 7th and lords it via triplicity. The Sun is being emphasized by being the next aspect of the Moon. The chart is ambiguous but I would wager money on the superior (Jupiter) which has less affliction. It being in the 12th might just show that the querent will underestimate the enemy.

I hate charts where the ascendant lord is retro though because often the chart is contradictory, like a gibberish tarot draw. Hopefully we will understand later why it is retro and make sense of it. For example, maybe he will not be able to be part of the match at all? Maybe something more lucrative elsewhere will present itself and that is the significance of Mars in fall in the 2nd square Sun (which is being emphasized). 11th is money from work.
