I am a bit stuck with this horary trying to identify the author of an incident which occured when I visited a cemetery to pay respects to relatives who had passed.The incident happened a couple of years ago at Samhain.
After attending the graves & lighting white candles & placing flowers on the graves my partner & I remembered that a Catholic priest who had been a friend had recently passed. So we searched for his grave, it was in an area where all the priests of the past had been buried.
I reached into the bag we had been carrying expecting to find a couple of white grave candles instead I found 4 burnt out red candles & broken grave lights.We had not placed them there. The white candles which should have been there had disappeared.As a result I could not light the burnt out old candles to honour the graves of the Priest.Who was responsible for this was my Horary question.
In the fullness of time I understood what the message meant & whoever arranged it must have known my life history.
The Asc is Scorpio so I am Mars in the third house conjunct Pluto visiting the dead Saturn ruling the third self explanatory.Moon my co significator is in Aquarius conjunct the south node in the third square sun & jupiter .Jupiter in Scorpio 1st house it happened at the grave of a Priest .Sun/Moon the lights The moon over South node the candles were burnt out & useless.
Looking to the 12th the house of the unseen /witchcraft ruled by venus in the 8th house the house of magic /the dead.
Venus in my natal chart rules my alcoccoden the guardian angel. I am undecided if Venus is the culprit Saturn who is the depositor of nearly all the planets bar Neptune or the moon over the south node Spirits of the dead.
Can anybody offer an interpretation of who was responsible.Does Horary only deal with the sub lunar world ?

This is an interesting question and I am not sure if I can help much. Normally I think of graves and grave sites as 4th house, which is what Deb also signifies them as in her Houses index: http://www.skyscript.co.uk/temples/index_list.html. Here the third is very active though, but it could be describing the visit rather than the graves (4th) and an afflicted 3rd could show an unwanted visitor. I would not give them Saturn though because it lords things like the earth and graves already naturally and lords the 4th here.

Witcraft and witches are 12th house but when Lilly describes how to identify a witch, he says that in cases where someone is being cursed, they are typically combust and the Sun will help describe the witch and their location. Here Sun is in the 7th, the 7th and 12th lords are both Venus and normally if I ask a question about someone who does harm to a situation that is the first place I look and the Sun is there but is not afflicting anyone really, other than arguably Moon square Sun and Moon being conjunct SN and lording the 9th, suggesting some clash of religious beliefs. Venus is normally not a very afflictive planet either so it seems like whoever it was probably wasn't doing it to be harmful but maybe out of entertainment or a ritual or something like that. If it was meant to be harmful, such as a curse, I would take that as it not being effective. Notice Venus is also with Mercury, its dispositor in the 6th, so maybe they did not act alone. Swift planets can also sometimes suggest young people. That is just my take though. I don't see anything particularly alarming like I would expect in something like a Satanic ritual or curse, etc. I don't think there is much you could do now too other than maybe alert the cemetary to watch the grave sites around the next holiday?

I am not sure how you would expect to ID a person from a horary chart though since it was likely a stranger(s) so I am not sure what can be gained here, other than Venus in Gemini and Mercury in Aries maybe describing them (you can use the resources in Skyscript for physical descriptions). Obviously, Venus is often a female and Gemini could show two females and maybe with light brown hair. Mercury is genderless and usually thin and quick, but Aries is male and often blonde or reddish hair.

My first astrologer was a fan of using Sabian symbols in horary to help describe people and the degree of Venus is shown as "A Woman Activist In An Emotional Speech Dramatizing Her Cause." Take what you will from that.

Thank you for your insightful reply,its helped me to draw a conclusion.
What I should add about the incident is that nobody was at the cemetery at the time apart from myself & partner, the bag was carried in my partners hand at all times apart from when she passed it to me so I could place flowers/candles on the grave,so definitely not a result of human interaction.
The candles were of a type I had never seen & I surmised that they were remembrance candles because of their poppy red colour.Nowhere in the cemetery had I seen poppy red candles to commemorate the fallen soldiers of WW2.They had been burnt out & would not ignite.
This again maybe shown in the horary by Venus ruler of 12th in Gemini whose ruler mercury in Aries ....Venus's message via mercury little burnt out red candles to commemorate soldiers who lost their lives in battle.Mercury in the 6th house as I tidied the grave its conjunction to Uranus shocking me into a new understanding.
The Priest had died in middle age as a result of an illness the doctors concluded was down to bad luck.
It is now I know the source of his bad luck & he kept his faith as he battled the illness like a soldier.
But Venus in Gemini there were two messages this was one. the second was the broken lights this was rubbish & here was buried a second Priest from my childhood.Who had heard a confession, but did not keep it to himself but divulged it to others ,as a chain of events from this disclosure which I do not wish to disclose a curse was placed on me when I was 13 years of age So Venus was saying the shit started here.

So I have Virgo Asc Mercury is combust in Pisces The Sun rules my 12th house
the Sun ruler Jupiter is on my IC enough said you can draw your own conclusions as to who the witch was.The battle is over it is finnished.

I conclude it was Venus my Alcoccoden that gave the message.

Mercury in Aries representing fallen soldiers makes a lot of sense and Venus representing their wives or loved ones. That had not occured to me but overall the message seems clear it didn't seem intentionally bad, which is good. The Sabian symbol lines up pretty well with the meaning of Venus that you give too. Gemini does often make me think of communications and in the 8th it makes sense that they were paying their respects for the dead.
