Interview Date Chart

1
Hi everyone,

L1 has an important interview coming up at a major consulting firm in December. I advised against any horary charts, because I believe L1 has cast quite a few and I instead suggested utilizing the times of the interviews to analyze the charts. There are two interview occurring in Round 2 interviews, and both are with senior partners. Tier 1 consulting is exceptionally difficult to get into, 2% acceptance rate, and I've interviewed at a couple firms before, it's brutal. This interview is finally materializing after months of rescheduling and changes, and also, no updates.

I am trying to practice my event chart analysis so I'm including it here for any feedback. I will have a a confirmed answer from L1 around December 15th.

Chart is set from L1's home location because this is virtual.

Background information on firm: Top management consulting firm globally, aka McKinsey, Bain or Boston. Incredibly conservative space, focus is strategy consulting and the work has burnt out many people. The firm is expecting a mass exodus on March when bonus' are paid out because workers have had such a hard time keeping up with the demand and CoVid WFH has caused people to end up working more without the normal access to the social supports that consultants get from seeing and connecting to their friends on Friday.

Background information on L1: smart, ambitious, recently launched her own consulting firm. L1 is worried about the cost of working for this firm. Mentally but also activism and side projects might be continue due to a non-compete (?). Also, very vocal on social media and building an activist presence. There is likely a risk to continue to be so vocal as an employee of the firm.

Interview 1 Analysis (morning interview):

Re-doing my analysis:

L1 is Saturn,
L10 the employer is mars
The moon is the interview

Placement:
- L1, Saturn in Cap is strong and comfortable. Because Saturn is aspecting L1's border it can be considered in L1, so its sign placement and house placement being angular. Saturn in Cap is quite stern and restrictive, this is perfectly aligned with the reality of it being case 1. I believe L1 will likely be nervous, restrictive and incredibly professional. In my experience, it took me some time to really open up.
- L10 is Mars in Scorpio, also incredibly strong, and fun and playful. To me, this is a partner that is outgoing and a bit less reserved, intense and likely friendly, outgoing even.
- The moon, the interview and performance on the case, is sitting in the 11th but aspecting the 12th, so I will consider it 12th house, it's cadent, with moon in Cap, it's in detriment. My assumption from this is that L1's performance is not strong.

Aspect/ Reception:
- L1 and L10 have an approaching square, L1 aspect Jupiter, which rules L11 and L2 before. I know that mars and Saturn is an incredibly difficult energy to overcome.
- The moon is void of course
- South node is sitting in the 10th house as well, which seems like a negative
- POF is sitting in L1 which is a positive burst of luck for L1.
- L3 which rules Venus has a separating aspect with Saturn, since L3 represents communication, I wonder if the behavioural aspect of the interview will go very well.
- Mars receives Saturn by fall in Aries
- Saturn receives mars by exaltion. L1 believes that the job is likely better than it is.

Interview 1 verdict, no pass.

Interview 2 (afternoon interview):
Image
L1 is Venus
L10 is Saturn
Moon is the interview

Placement:
- L1 is Venus and L10 is Saturn
- There is a 0 degree separating aspect, I believe I read that this is considered a partial aspect.
- Venus is in detriment, so weak in this round of cases. This makes sense, L1 says that there is always one case that is a major struggle for her.
- Venus on the positive side is received by triplicity and term.

Interview 2 verdict, passes

Overall, potential offer, solid chances.

Hi WJ just few quick notes

I'm not sure an event chart should or can be judged like a horary chart. Maybe someone could clarify.

You seem to miss that 10th Lord Mars receives 1st Lord Saturn by exaltation in the first chart. Saturn does not receive back according to Ptolemy's table of dignities but it's still not quite negative as far as a square is concerned.

But Jupiter seems to interpose in the first chart. I don't see the degrees quite clearly due to low res images.

Hi Amelia,
Nice to see you here! Firstly, thanks for the confirmation. So, it's the same as I would read in horary (just in regard to the aspects) that Jupiter is blocking the aspect from connecting?

In this specific case, Jupiter rules both the 11th and L1's 2nd.

This is a close up of the aspects.

I checked and mars will aspect Jupiter before it aspects Saturn.
Thank you!

I can't say I agree with your judgment yet. Haven't yet analysed in detail. Sorry. Sometimes an interposing planet does not destroy the whole thing, perhaps just presents a hurdle.

5
To me personally a square with reception by exaltation is far from a solid negative. Given the planets are overall dignified. Even with Juptier the benefic ruling money concerns interposing I still wouldn't advise the client, based on this, that they have zero chance to pass. But you're the astrologer so it's your call.

Moon though is out of orb with all planets so some may consider it VOC. I'm not sure a VOC moon is read the same in an event chart.

6
Thanks Amelia, I'm far from an astrologer and I'm just looking into the energy for a friend :) Also, I have no problem being wrong. I'm just putting my learning down for critiquing, tbh.

The interview will be incredibly challenging, it is two cases with senior partners. To my understanding, L1 must pass both to secure an offer. I know that parter interviews, from my experience, are much more subjective. You might spend the entire time on a framework as opposed to going through the full case. When I interviewed for one of my cases, we didn't even complete a case because my interviewer decided they would pass me.

I'm going to go back and re-do my analysis. I was rushed the first time because I had to delete my initial interpretation.
Thank you!

Hello Wisdom Joy,

It's hard to read the fine print of the charts and I usually like to redraw it myself for a better analysis.
But here are simple rules I use when looking to an Electional Chart.

1) First, Horary is about whether you should do something, and Electional is about when to do something that you’ve already decided to do.
2) Second, the nature of your Election should guide you with the planets you want to come forward. That is for example Mars for a steel industry, Moon for a daycare center or Venus for a beauty salon etc
3) Third, you look at the aspects (hard or soft) to the planet you have elected to come forward.
4) Fourth, you put that planet at the Angles. And this is critical and foremost because the Angular planets will show up, they will stand out.
In your first chart, you have Venus at the MC. Sounds good looking for a consulting job but the sextile to Jupiter/Saturn is separating and the duo is Cadent in the 12th House.
This Venus standing out, in detriment in Scorpio warns your friend of any 'faux pas' in terms of dressing up or etiquette for the interview. And of course, her reputation on social medias (10th House) will be scrutinized.

I once draw an electional chart for a friend who was submitting a poem in a contest. And I put the Moon conjunct her Sun sextiling Mercury... but they were not Angular and she did not even qualified as a finalist.
When looking for a job position, Jupiter, Saturn, the transits and progressions to the natal chart will have a lot to say. I learned my lesson.

Interview2, your second chart looks better as Jupiter and Saturn are Angular.
Yet, she will be facing the square from Mars in the 12th.

Hi Ouranos,

Thanks so much for your note. I'll read the article first thing tomorrow morning and share my thoughts. Based on your feedback this doesn't look incredibly positive. In horary Saturn aspecting L1 would move Saturn into L1 for consideration. Does that not hold here?
Thank you!

Hello - Amelia is correct that you do not read event charts like a horary. As I say in posts a lot, event charts are most useful for planning something. That is, choosing an interview time that works best for the person. This works best during the scheduling stage of an interview.

You can look at the given event time and see if it looks positive for the native but you still would want to look at it in concert with their natal chart. There are some general aphorisms that indicate gain versus loss that tend to be universal in elections and horary, such as water signs and waxing Moons being good for a new opportunity, fortifying the ascendant lord and the lord of the matter, etc. For an interview, I also pay attention to the lord of the 7th house, the interviewer(s), and its relationship with 1st lord. I also look at Mercury, planet of communications.

Winning the job is a combo of an application and interview(s) so an event chart for one part of that process is not even the moment the project of applying to the job occurred. I actually pay more attention to when I submit an application than I do for planning an interview because that is the beginning of the venture.

Thanks for your added perspective, Tanit. Unfortunately with consulting firms there is minimal flexibility in scheduling your interview. You basically are given a time and you're required to show up.

Also, these are both case assignments done in the interview, so I can easily adjust the timing to the end of the interview, as that would be the submission time. I based the event on L1's start times.

I advised against horary given the number of charts required for every job application, based on my personal experience. An event chart is really the only information I have.
Thank you!

An event chart is also called an 'inception chart' or commencement chart.
Similar to a 'decumbiture chart' when the Ancients were casting a chart when someone was laying down or taken to their bed as a result of becoming ill..

One thing I forgot to mention that Tanit pointed out.
The Phase of the Moon, which also helps describe how the person will react to the event.
The first quarter of the moon is sanguine (Hot and Moist) Excitable, enthusiastic, opportunistic, charismatic, charming, youthful, 'easy come, easy go', forward, warm, exuberance.
The second quarter is choleric (Hot and Dry) Drive, determined, irritable, quick acting, unreflective, challenging, irascible, explosive, hot-headed
The third quarter is melancholic (Cold and Dry) Solid, dependable, practical, hard-working, obsessive, dour, quiet, responsible, reliable, ambitious
The last quarter is phlegmatic. (Cold and Moist) Pessimistic, languid, emotional, changeable, deep, still, empathic, sensitive, private, retiring

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your insights and sharing the article Ouranos, I read the article and I found it incredibly helpful in understanding the difference between horary and event astrology. Based on Tanit's feedback on submitting the application as opposed to the two interview dates, I have a confirmation from L1's submission date and time and created a new chart for my analysis. I'm splitting the chart in two so that it's more visibility for feedback. I also included L1's birth chart for some feedback. I'll delete it after to maintain privacy if that is okay.

Findings/ Insights:

L1 is Jupiter
L10 is also Jupiter so moving to the next sign, it now becomes Saturn
L7 the interview is Mercury
L5 rules the Moon and I'll look at it's overall condition

*I'm assigning Saturn to a consulting firm, because to me that makes the most sense. Jupiter is weak and candidly I cannot imagine that being a consulting firm with their steady stream of clients, revenue and fierce reputation. I welcome feedback on this assignment.

Insights:

Image
(+)/ (-):
- Moon is Jupiter has some dignity by term
- The moon is not void of course, per the article, and it's next connect is with Mars, who rules L2 and L9 (L9 is interesting to me because this role traditionally requires massive international travel. With Covid, there is a push to WFH), L2 also rules money- traditionally consulting firms pay a significant amount of money, my assumption is securing this position will indeed be a massive jump.
- Moon is currently in Jupiter which is Earth and third quarter so melancholic (Cold and Dry) Solid, dependable, practical, hard-working, obsessive, dour, quiet, responsible, reliable, ambitious-- this is particularly fascinating because this is what I would describe as components of success for the role
- Jupiter, though weak by sign and in detriment, is strong by house sitting in L10, the house of the position. Saturn receives Jupiter by detriment, that tells me L1 is perceived as a weaker candidate?-- This candidly doesn't make sense to me since L1 has made it to final round interviews.
- Mercury, the interviews are also in detriment in this chart. That doesn't make any sense to me either tbh as they are senior partners.
- Mercury is approaching a conjunction with Venus which rules L1's 8th of loss and 3rd for communication.
- POF is in L1 and that's the moons next aspect so that's a positive.

Based on this, I believe that L1 will secure an offer. L1 is not the strongest candidate, or not perceived as the strongest candidate given the detriment. That or L1 needs to strong consider accepting the offer due to what L1 will likely have to give up. I doubt the social media activism will stop at any point and regardless of perspective. In fact, L1 considers it to be far more important than any job.
