lots of unrest in france at the moment...

france went thru the yellow vests dynamic which led into covid and the french authorities managed to quell the unrest to a good degree thru different measures... this time it is about changing the pension date from 62 to 64 years of age...

i am not knowledgeable about the in's and outs of what is happening in france.. at the time i believed macron was the corporate installed politician, representing the bankers interests, but obviously preferable to the images projected on marine le pen and all the issues over her far right ideology and etc. etc.. regardless - i am mostly looking at the chart that has been used quite frequently for france - paris, 1792, sept 21st 15:30 cet which is shown below..



the first thing i think of is the damaged saturn in aries, which rules the ascendant... it is in opposition to the more idealistic, dreamlike conjunction of jupiter-neptune in libra... the north node makes a fairly close trine to the ascendant from the 9th house, while the sun and venus are also in the 9th whole sign houses, indicating frances role on the world stage as a type of leader of sorts and one of the other big players within the european zone... mars is very strong by being in an exact conjunction with the midheaven - arguably the strongest planet in the chart from the point of view of it being on an angle and very close... but it is a diurnal chart which from a hellenistic point of view, is said to be the malefic of most concern... mars also rules over the placement of the moon - which rules the 7th.. mars rules the 11th and 4th whole signs....but it also rules over the midheaven... perhaps some of the volatility within france is captured in this mars position in the chart itself... but i think there is more to it...

one could say that france will soon enough experience the pluto return, and in fact is in the last phase of its cycle here, before it reaches early aquarius ( for sidereal zodiac - pluto is still in capricorn)... it is in a very strong opposition to uranus - both in the 2/8th houses of the chart using whs... in fact - pluto and uranus both square onto the midheaven degree with mars - so much of the potential for serious rioting and turmoil is suggested by this trio of planets hitting the midheaven axis within about a 5 degree aspect.... more to say about the chart itself, but i will stop here for now, and address the solar return in effect for now, along with the transit data which i think is very relevant..

here we see the ascendant in the 2022 solar return of sag, lands in the 12th house of the 1792 chart, which makes sense given the turmoil that seems to be happening in france... again i wonder about whether the opposition between the 1792 ascendant ruler - saturn, and the ascendant ruler of the 2022 sr ascendant - jupiter - are playing out here? the people as represented by the saturn, are being dominated by the rulers, as represented by the jupiter-neptune in the 10th wsh.. in the 2022 sr itself, jupiter is dignified, but in direct opposition to the stellium in virgo in the 10th house using wsh..... in fact, one could argue jupiter represents the populace here - with the sun representing macron..it is complicated by the moon - typically representing the people - ruling over the 8th whs - of others finances... venus in detriment rules over the midheaven, and is loosely conjunct the nodal axis, and also in opposition to the same saturn in aries in the 1792 chart.. the angles in the solar return chart are highlighting the problematic saturn in aries in the 1792 chart...

furthermore - the eclipse cycle as represented by the nodal axis transit, are lined up to hit this same opposition in the 1792 chart... i see more turmoil in store for france moving thru this year!

as for the transits - the most obvious transit of pluto in conjunction to the ascendant degree - is also very suggestive and problematic for france... this represents a complete breakdown and rebuilding of the national character and is a signficant transit in itself - in spite of how pluto is not considered all that relevant in the bigger scheme of the traditionalists of astrology! lets blame it on a star instead, lolol...

ignoring the angles of this transit chart for march 23 - 2023 to paris - one can see that the location of mars in early gemini - also directly impacts all those planets in the 1792 chart for france - in particular the sun, but also rahu -north node... this transit mars also connects directly with the stellium of planets in early virgo in the solar return chart for 2022...

just using the transit and solar return data back to the 1792 chart, one can see many connections and most of them quite challenging... i think this accurately reflects the challenges that france is facing... whether macron is able to ride the storm successfully from here -i am not quite sure... would he raise taxes on the wealthy here, or does he have to always get the concessions from the public thru an increase in the pension age from 62 to 64?? hard to know, but i foresee a rocky road for the next few months, at least until the next solar return for 2023 - which i have yet to consider...

SA/ME started 16 aug 2021.. why i was curious is due the dynamic of france-mali relations... SA/KE begins april 25th, 2024.

here is what i am thinking... 9th house ruler mercury, in the 8th house, casts a pale over france foreign affairs... mercury is in the 12th house to its own lordship.. it was in feb 2022 that france removed its troops out of mali after having been their for almost a full decade...

this is a dilemma facing mundane astrologers - which chart to use for a country?? it seems to me that more then 1 of them can work, or they can work in tandem with one another.. i am presently today looking at the charts for ksa and iran.. it is the same sort of dilemma! which chart does one use? with some countries, it is very straight forward... with specific events, it is also straight forward most of the time... but even then we may have to settle for a rough time, as opposed to an accurate specific time of day... cheers james

Interesting: Tropical chart - New Moon May 10th, 1793 = sec.progr. NM exerting its influence starting 2022/2023 - for some more years to come.
Now, May 10th, definitely not a good day for France: On May 10th 1940 the German attack in the west started...

thanks for highlighting the importance of new moons here and some of the history of what transpired in france in 1793... as i said previously - i remain largely ignorant of french history... the new moon chart is fascinating, especially in sidereal where again mars is highlighted in the last degree of aries - less then a degree from the new moon at 28 aries 58'28"... here is the chart below shown in sidereal..

turns out qaddafi was prescient..

the chart for france for 1792 does seem to reflect the great tension that has been building in france for the past few years... i attribute it to the natal pluto-uranus opposition which is being subject to the transit of uranus in the square of this opposition here.... also mars in the 1792 chart is at the top of this opposition forming a t square.. it is a very volatile set up and seems to be very active at present... transit mars has been moving into this pattern here as well...

i also noticed that the rising degree for macron and the 1792 chart are very similar with both charts experiencing the transit of pluto to the ascendant degree.. below is a biwheel of 1792 chart for france, with macrons chart on the outside..
