Some years back I found and saved a very interesting article on Skyscript entitled "The Winter Solstice, Astrology and the Relationship between the Sun, Saturn and the Earth". Unfortunately I didn't save the author's name (I remember it was a woman). It now seems to have disappeared, and I can't find it elswhere on the web. Does anyone know who wrote it?
Many thanks
Graham

Hi Graham
I believe the article you are thinking of is this one by Lisa Mendes:
MIdnight Sun: in Search of Astrology's Dark Roots
https://www.skyscript.co.uk/midnightsun.html
It is available as a PDF file which outlines research undertaken by Lisa for her dissertation for the MA Course in Cosmology & Divination at the University of Kent. The synopsis for the paper reads:
Lisa Mendes argues that there is a symbolic connection between the angles and the solstices which is linked to the underworld journey of the Sun in both Egyptian and Mesopotamian cosmology and mythology. In this essay, the focus is on the winter solstice, which carries important significance with regard to the relationship between the Sun and the earth. Ancient links between the Sun and Saturn are also examined, and suggestions are made as to how this symbolism might enhance one's astrological understanding of the Sun's ingress into Capricorn.

Thank you Deborah - I forgot to save the main title as well, just kept the subtitle ! Glad to see it's still there.
