With the US Democratic Party in such disarray lately, I wanted to look at its foundation chart, curious as to what hard configurations might be hitting at its roots right now. I couldn't find any sources online (or in Campion’s BOWH), but various sources date it to 8 Jan 1828, attributing its origin to a political alliance by Martin van Buren of New York and Andrew Jackson of Tennessee, stating that it was effectively launched during an address that Andrew Jackson gave on that date. For example, the Wikipedia page on Andrew Jackson's presidential campaign states:

Jackson launched his campaign on January 8, 1828, with a major speech on the 13th anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans from 1815, thus marking the birth of the modern Democratic Party.

I tried to find more information about the time of that speech but ran into a blank today (without paying to access sources that may or may not be more enlightening). It seems clear that the address was delivered at Concord, New Hampshire (this link reproduces the text of the address), so I am not sure why the Wikipedia page for the Democratic Party states that it was founded “January 8, 1828; Baltimore, Maryland, U.S”. I have seen other sources do the same – but perhaps because they are following WP.

However, we are currently considering noon chart information, and the shift from Concord to Baltimore makes little difference to the chart details. So, I set this chart for Baltimore and will update it if better information comes to light.
This month’s Full Moon at 29 Capricorn lands on the party’s foundation chart Uranus, which is undergoing its own transiting Uranus square.


REPUBLICANS
For the Republican party information, I decided to ignore the foundation date given by Wikipedia, because I think Jessica Adams provides more convincing information about the Party’s formation on her blog, where she quotes from Quincy Whitney’s Hidden History of New Hampshire to show the ‘pivotal moment’ when the Republican party was conceived, agreed and named.
In this chart, it is Venus (27 Scorpio) that received the Ma-Ur-Algol opposition, which helps to explain – at least for me – why that serious affliction Trump received quickly morphed into something the party could use as a stroke of good luck. It is also illuminating to see how this chart lines up with the natal charts of both Trump and J.D. Vance. EG: Trump’s luminaries align with this chart’s Jupiter, while his Pluto aligns with Mars, showing both his popular appeal but also the darker concern his politics raise. Vance’s Moon at 19 Libra picks out the Sun in this chart, and his asc-desc axis picks out the Moon (it’s a noon chart, though, so the Moon’s position is not exact).

These charts seem to resonate well with events currently playing out through the characters on stage at the moment. Seems to be another reason here to note the Jupiter-Venus opposition in force on election day, when Jupiter will be at 20 Gemini and Venus will be at 22 Sagittarius, aligning across the Republican party Jupiter.

I find it very interesting that Joe Biden announced that he would not be seeking reelection on July 21, 2024 at 1:46 PM (the time the announcement was made to the public).
The chart is very interesting and clearly shows the passing on of the torch with MC ruler Sun at 29 Cancer about to go into Leo (things are about to get exciting). The Lord of the ASC Mars at 0 degrees Gemini. But the fact that the IC is at 7 degree Aquarius with Moon at 3 Aquarius; conjunct the democratic party's Sun and Mercury, to me indicates that this was a selfless action that will benefit the party.

Below are the Biden's withdrawal announcement chart superimposed on his Inauguration chart, and on his natal chart. Clearly the withdrawal Pluto is exactly conjunct the Inauguration Sun. The Withdrawal Moon is right on the Inauguration Saturn L10. Withdrawal Saturn Rx. is exactly square the Inauguration Nodes and conjunct the Inauguration Neptune. Withdrawal Sun is about to oppose Inauguration Sun. Withdrawal Mars is conjunct Biden's natal Descendant and Uranus. Withdrawal Uranus opposite Biden's Sun and square withdrawal Mercury. The withdrawal Mc is on Biden's Pluto activating his natal Pluto=Moon/Mars. The withdrawal Asc is opposite Biden's natal Moon, activating his natal Moon= Node/Neptune ("The lack of community sense and of team-spirit")
Asc=Node/Neptune according to Ebertin is "The experiencing of deceit and of untruthfulness from others, a disappointment".

To me this indicates that this was NOT "a selfless action to benefit the party". Biden was brutally pushed out by a powerful woman in the Democratic party, against his own will. I doubt it he was the one who wrote, signed and posted the withdrawal letter on X (Twitter).

I know you question Biden's birth time, and the transiting Moon in the Withdrawal chart supports an earlier time of birth, which I had been looking at as I found an earlier speculative chart for Biden in my files. We have to be very precise with transit orbs for a precise event time (within 30 minutes or less than one degree at the most) which we have for Biden's withdrawal. That means that the Moon should be a key transiting body.

The withdrawal Krishnamurti Moon is 9 Capricorn 31. Biden's 8:30 ascendant is 10 Scorpio 14. If we back up the ascendant to 8:28:30 or earlier we have an ascendant of 9:56 or less staying in the 9+ degree area. Also if we back up the time into the 9th degree that shifts Biden's navamsa stellium of Rahu/Saturn/Moon/Mercury in Gemini from the 9th to the 10th house (Virgo navamsa ascendant) which makes sense as the 10th is the career house. Withdrawal Moon is on the third equal cusp of Biden's natal chart, communication. Also an earlier time moves the MC backwards which would give a closer orb to Withdrawal Saturn on the IC at 24 Aqr 56.

Other precise (sidereal) transits include:
9 Tau 49 Natal Uranus on cusp 7
9 Cap 31 Withdrawal Moon on cusp 3, orb 18' applying trine (The tropical orb is 51' separating.)

Mean natal Rahu on equal cusp 10 is a key to the withdrawal time:
6 Leo 45 Natal mean Rahu (north node)
6 Cap 48 Withdrawal Pluto (3 min orb quincunx, 8th house "death" aspect)
6 Tau 30 Withdrawal Mars on cusp 7 (15' orb applying)

(Note the quadrant position of transiting Moon/Pluto in Biden's natal 2nd house; Transiting Moon/Pluto on equal cusp 3, communication. I gave up quadrant houses a long time ago and switched to Indian equal house, cusps at centers of houses.)

thanks for your post here and on the kamala harris thread which i do want to reply to when i get enough time to study her solar returns more closely.. i got this idea from charak that i like - looking at a cluster of solar returns - say 2023, 2024 and 2025, as opposed to just one individual solar return.. i like this idea, but i have yet to do this with kamala harris's chart in order to understand her being anointed at the moment.. but back to biden - i like what aquastellea came up with here, but i am very suspicious on the birth time.. it is possible it is just a wee bit off which skews the angles, but i am wondering if it is more dramatic then that... until we really find out - we are stuck with what we have.. your hypothesis is just as good as any other ones i have seen on this limited data..

James, I don't know about consecutive charts, but we do have two victory charts for Kamala Harris which I want to study: Senate victory in 2016 and U.S. election victory in 2020. Also for Donald Trump we have an an inauguration victory and an inauguration loss. Surely those charts should give us as astrologers helpful hints as to the outcome of the coming election?

I have to agree. The ‘powerful’ woman was probably Nancy Pelosi. On April 17th transiting Neptune was in exact antiscia with Biden’s Natal Neptune in his 4th H of ‘family’ and female political family members. This is a ‘backstabber’. She had been working behind his back with others in the party since the middle of April in my opinion. When she stepped down two years ago and handed the torch to Hakeem Jeffries, she was hoping Biden would do the same. But he was afraid he was the only one who could beat Trump, so he decided to run again. Notice in Biden’s 12th H of secret enemies Venus conjuncts his Sun in Scorpio. There’s that ‘powerful woman’. Our 12th H literally ‘sits’ on our AC as past life karma we must balance before we die. So now his karma is balanced. Still, I believe it was quite selfless and wise of him to make such a strategic move. It seems to be paying off, doesn’t it?
