7th, 10th, or other?

1
A rather dumb question:

A friend of mine has just started a new job and is totally smitten with her boss. She has asked me a question about the viability of it all, but I can't decide whether to use the 7th (for a romantic interest) or the 10th (since he is her boss and that is how the relationship stands).

Any opinions on how I should approach this matter? My leaning is toward the 7th, but I want to be sure before thinking about the answer. If neither one is conclusive, would it make sense to look at receptions/physical descriptions shown by a planet (he is apparently 'tall, dark, and handsome'. "He has great bone structure," my friend says.....maybe Saturn?)

Ideas?
Thanks,
GH :)

OK, thanks. I thought so. Now all I have to figure out is the chart itself; it was one of those asked when that Venus/Mercury/Mars/Jupiter mess was perfecting: and Mars/Venus are the significators!

Oh, headache... :-?

OK, I'll post it now. It *is* rather interesting.

'Will something develop with Boss X' (e.g. romantic or sexual, at least 8) )

6.54 Scorpio rises
Moon 29.30 Virgo in 11th house (Regiomontanus system)

Interesting to me that all the planets are placed in the 11th house.

Moon applies immediately to conjunct Venus, albeit with a sign change.

We also have that dratted Mercury in-between Venus and Mars. Mercury rules the 8th and 11th (friendship again?)...but is this a translation of light?

It seems to me that the trouble I have with this planetary arrangement (as seen in other recent discussions), is that I can't tell when the planet is interfering (Mercury-to-Jupiter then Mars-to-Jupiter) or a translation. Technically speaking, it's both. But how?

Jupiter rules the 5th house and everything applies to square him. If the 5th rules 'things of pleasure' in this chart, how are all these translations affected?

The direct application of the moon to Venus is encouraging...it occurred to me that the translation of light (if that's what it is) of Mercury from Venus to Mars equals a 'hand extended in friendship'(?) rather than anything romantic?

But it *is* Venus and Mars, and Mars is quite keen. And Venus is quite attractive right now!

There is of course a traditional consideration about not reading a chart with a Moon in the last degree of a sign. However, like you I am inclined to dismiss that here.

Deb recommends we always check the last aspect the Moon makes and the next. It is the transmitter of influences and the general indicator of the flow of events as well as the querents co-significator. The last aspect indicates what energy it is carrying while the next indicates what immediate planetary influence it is facing. I am not able to access my normal software but from a quick look it seems to me the Moon last separated from Lord 5 (Jupiter) and is applying to Lord 7 ( Venus). That initially seems quite positive. It could indicate the spark of attraction ( 5th house) could be going somewhere more positive. However, I need better software to check if the Moon ever separated from the moeity with Jupiter ( 10 1/2 degrees) before applying in moeity orb to Venus ( 9 1/2 degrees).

The Moon is in late degrees which perhaps indicates a transitional period in relation to the question symbolised by the sign boundary. The Moon is within moeity orb of Venus.
We also have that dratted Mercury in-between Venus and Mars. Mercury rules the 8th and 11th (friendship again?)...but is this a translation of light?
I agree this is the key to delineating this horary. Do we read mercury as a translation of light from Lord 7 to 1 (third party bringing them together ie young person, or email, text?) or see it as indicative of 'just good friends' as you suggest. The heavy emphasis on the 11th house supports that view. Its the same with the Moon. Its actually, within moeity orb of Venus, Mercury and Mars. However, by the time it crosses over Mars it will be carrying the energy of Mercury. Its interesting that Mars is disposited by Venus and the Moon imminently will be. The debility of Mars and strength of Venus indicates he will be in a much stronger position
(which fits being the Boss). Still the fact her significators will be in his domicile and terms indicates he is literally 'well disposed to her'.

I think its interesting that the Almuten ruler of Venus, Mercury and Mars is actually Saturn ( Exaltation, & triplicity) Its placed in the 10th house and disposited by Mercury. Its also term ruler for Venus. That seems to add testimony that his focus is really career and at best friendship will develop.

Hi MarkC, Thanks for pitching in.

Yes, the Moon's last aspect was a trine to Jupiter, 5th ruler. I had wondered whether the change of sign could somehow symbolise the change from friendship (Moon in Mercury's sign) to romance (Moon in Venus' sign)...but I'm not sure whether this is a valid way to look at it. The application of the Moon to Venus is the next aspect to perfect, I guess, notwithstanding the jumble of the other planets.
I confess like you I have difficulty reaching a definitive view on this one.
Yes, this is tricky. I'm glad these aspects have now separated!

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Hi Gunhilde,

One closing suggestion before I head off is to check the antiscions and contra-antiscions in the chart.

They can sometimes reveal things that are not transparent elsewhere in the chart.

No time to look myself. I have looked for fixed stars but nothing stands out.

Good luck

Mark

I just checked the moieties by doing some long-hand maths; the Moon is definitely translating as at the outermost moiety from Jupiter (around 23.06 Virgo) it was already in orb of Venus...barely!

I'll check antiscia, although this is probably the weakest horary subject for me, so I might need help with interpretation!

Thanks!
GH :D

Edit: Okay, I've just looked. There is nothing for the anstiscia except that Mars' antiscia is conjunct Uranus on the cusp of the 5th (bolt out of the blue love? - That's how my friend describes it), but because all of the planets are in or nearing Libra, the contra-antiscia are all in Virgo, so the moon has separated from them...except the contra-antiscia of the Moon, with is at 00 Libra 30...so the Moon applies.

Don't ask me what it means, however. I understand that it acts something like a square or opposition, but that's the extent of my knowledge!

This one is easy because I had the same looking chart basically from a question asked on August 31st. Though the Moon is applying a conjunction to Venus, and Mercury "seems" to be translating the light between the two significators..Mars reached a square with Jupiter before the translation could occur therefore 'Frustrating' the perfection. I don't know if that's enough to make the answer 'No', but it could be. It also just might mean there is some type of delay for it to happen. I think the Moon applying to Venus before all of that happened though makes it look somewhat promising. Let me know what your conclusion is when you make it.

Hi Hiimnotcool,

Yes, I remember the debate over that chart, which is why I am groaning over this one! :D

I wonder whether the Mars square Jupiter is so bad; Jupiter is 5th ruler in this chart and there is some mixed reception, with Jupiter in Mars' exaltation. Lilly says that with reception a square can bring matters to pass with some struggle. Only problem is, Jupiter is an auxiliary player here and not the 'main event'.

I'm inclined, like MarkC, to think that the loaded 11th house brings the matter to bear: that it will be a friendship (perhaps with some flirtation or mutual interest) but maybe not taken further. ?

That may well explain the conflicting testimonies here. Pity Deb is not around right now as her insight would have been invaluable on a tricky chart like this.

I am glad you said this is for a friend GH. I would hate to have money/reputation hanging on getting this one 100% right. :???:
